All the security systems available in the market today, including both the traditional and biometrics ones, use the traditional serial communications protocol, such as RS-232 & RS-485, to connect the dedicated computers for data communications. These protocols are over thirty-year old and are notorious for their slow communication speed & reliability problems, and they are not compatible with the modern communication protocol like the TCP/IP, which is the standard protocol used in the Internet.

iGuard FPS110 uses the TCP/IP as the communication protocol, which enables the device to directly connect to the corporate network via the standard RJ-45 cabling, without any additional hardware or dedicated computer.
